Who is the Sony ZV-E10 For, And Should You Buy It?

Sony’s ZV-10E10 is the latest offering from the company. It was designed to be used as a vlogging camera more than a photography-focused camera. Is it a good camera for vlogging? Should you buy it?

Kevin Raposo, a video producer and photographer, breaks down 16 factors that affect the camera’s functionality and features. This review covers a variety of tests with the autofocus and electronic image stabilization. It also includes the built-in microphone and the charging speed. He began by looking at the camera’s design, which is not very unique.

“If you’re already familiar with any of these a6000 cameras (such the a6400 or the a6500), then you’ll feel right at home using the ZV-E10,” Raposo told PETaPixel. The design, ergonomics and even the sensor have been taken directly from these cameras.

PetaPixel pointed out in its review that the ZV-E10 has a few design differences that set it apart from the Alpha line.

Raposo states that the ZV-E10 is unique in its video production features. It has a dedicated record button and a background blur button. Proxy recording can be done using proxy recording. The ZV-E10 also has a fully-articulating screen and even a tally lamp on the front.

All of this is included at an extremely attractive price of $698 for the camera body or $798 with a 16-50mm kit lens.”

Although the camera’s low price is attractive, there are downsides. The camera does not offer in-body image stability (although it does offer electronic stabilization at a price as shown above), and makes other concessions.

“Officially, there are two things you should know: the camera does not have a viewfinder and the build quality is as good as you would expect for a lower price.

Raposo suggests that you carefully consider the intended use before purchasing a ZV–E10. This camera is targeted at a specific market and can be less attractive than other options. The ZV-E10 is likely to appeal to complete beginners, content creators, and vloggers. Those who aren’t among these three categories will not find the camera they need and should consider other options.
